What the company did was take the K7 and implement new engineering designs in the areas mentioned above. The K7 served as a starting point which is something very commonly seen among camera makers. What you can expect in the K5 are ease of use with an expanded feature list. If you like to perform photo customizing, then you do need to take a very close look at the new functions introduced with this camera. As far as manipulating your pictures, you will be delighted with the new changes. Of course you can take videos as well, but what you can do with them in the way of customization is more restricted.
The K5 now features a field of view tested to be at 100%. If you are heavy into optics, then you will appreciate the new Penta-Prism which is the proprietary prism finder in the K5. This will be as close as you can get to 100% due to the 1.0 magnification. That is where it all begins, with the viewfinder and the auto-focus will get you set-up very rapidly. We feel the standout areas will be with the image processing and especially in lower light shots, so you should look for examples of those.
We are aware that the K5 may produce under-exposed images in certain conditions. However, whether or not just a tiny bit more than a quarter of an f-stop is a huge issue depends on what you are trying to do. The capability for lower ISO applications does excel over other popular models. Also, the auto-focus will prove to be very quick and accurate for all your needs. Manual focus is the only option with video, so that may or not be a problem area for you. The Pentax K5 DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera does have more refined improvements as opposed to major overhauls in certain areas. You would not expect a digital SLR to focus heavily on video features. If you need audio for your videos, then there are provisions for an external microphone. We think you will be satisfied with the quality of videos produced by the K5. The K5 has more than enough to keep the typical user busy and happy.
