New Boiler Installation - What To Consider.

If you are thinking about having a new boiler installed, either because the old one is no longer running as efficiently as it could, or maybe because it is past the stage of reasonable repair, there are a number of things you should first consider:
-
When? When is the best time to have a new boiler installed? The engineers will need to have access to your house. Possibly even for a few days, so you will need to make sure that someone is available to be home for the whole time. It is also better to have a boiler installed in the summer rather than in winter (if possible). If you think about it, you are far more likely to get an engineer to fit around you at this time of the year, because obviously fewer boilers breakdown in the summer and the engineers may have more time.
-
Who? You should only ever use engineers who are Gas Safe Registered so you can be sure that they are completely capable of fitting your new boiler, safely and efficiently. The Gas Safe’s scheme took over from Corgi and is a legal requirement in the UK. It’s there to protect you, your family, and your home from potentially dangerous installers; people who only say they know what they are doing.
-
Which? Which boiler should you have? There is a lot of choice out there, and you need to spend some time thinking about what it is you really need. You should also consider, if you are thinking of any home improvements, it is important to plan your boiler around this. A combi boiler, for example, could free up much needed space in your house.
-
Where? Where is the boiler going to go? Did you know many new boilers can be positioned outside now, which frees up space in your home and reduces noise?
-
How much? A new boiler can be an expensive purchase, and so you need to weigh up prices. Importantly, for any new boiler you might consider a scheme or payment plan which will allow you to spread the cost over a longer period. Have a look into the different ways to pay so you can choose which one is right for you. This can be a perfect solution if you need to replace your boiler and don´t have sufficient funds available at the time.
