There are lots of beauty schools here in San Jose but one should know how to choose and where to look. When looking for a beauty school, two factors are needed to be checked out because these factors have an impact on the quality of the instruction provided and the level of skill that students can attain. And these are accreditation and reputation not cost and reputation. Reputation is naturally important in choosing but one factor that sometimes comes overlooked when choosing a beauty school is accreditation. Read on because I will further explain why accreditation is an important factor aside from reputation.
If you choose to attend an accredited beauty school one important benefit is that you can qualify for availing of the financial aid by the government. For a beauty school to be accredited, the school must meet certain standards set by NACCAS or National Accrediting Commission for Cosmetology Arts and Sciences. This commission is recognized by the Department of Education enabling them to grant financial aid by the government. The beauty school in its entirety has to be up to par in order to keep their accredited status, so if you’re attending an accredited beauty school you are assured of a high standard of education, competent instructors and that has all the equipments/facilities needed.
Another benefit of attending an accredited beauty school is that employers will always prefer cosmetologists only from accredited beauty schools. They would think that having your education from a reputable beauty school would make you a better employee than if they hire a employee who was trained in a non-accredited beauty school.
Lastly, attending an accredited beauty school assures you that the knowledge acquired from attending this school will help prepare you in your future undertakings as a cosmetologists, hairstylist or beautician.

-
Chances are that you will have a hard time getting your cosmetology license because of the mediocre instructions given to you while having attended a non-accredited beauty school.
-
The lack of equipment or facilities needed for you to prepare for your future career and uncertain level of education you are going to receive in choosing to attend a non-accredited beauty school.
-
Lacking to meet the minimum or basic requirements of a legitimate beauty school. Accredited beauty schools on the other hand assures you high level of education that not only meets the basic requirements but also prepares you for your career as a beauty professional by giving the students the fundamental knowledge needed in the salon business.
-
Most importantly for those of you struggling with the current economic situation you will not be able to avail of the financial aid by the government because this is only available for accredited beauty schools.
I hope I changed your mind on trying to attend a non-accredited beauty school just because it is cheaper. Good Luck!
