While civilian boot camps seem to be springing up all over the place, they are nothing compared to military boot camps.

Those who join the military have such a hard time that about forty percent of them do not even make it through the first four years. For most of these people, it is because of having such unrealistic expectations that they do not make it. In the military, there will always be someone telling you what to do and when to do it and how to do it. You just have to get used to that. You have to get used to the idea that a trainer will wake you up early every morning by yelling in your face. At that moment, you may begin to miss home and those lovely hot breakfasts in bed, those extra few hours of sleep on the weekends, your freedom and independence. Military training is definitely tough and is designed to make you more disciplined. Therefore, soldiers on time ( in german Soldaten auf Zeit ) is the key to a good military training program. You have to learn how to be punctual no matter what excuse you may have for being late. Your convoy or patrol depend on you and need you at a particular time, either to relieve someone of their duty or to be an extra pair of eyes. If you do not turn up at the time that you are expected to, it affects the whole convoy or patrol. They may not be able to perform as well as they could have just because you are a few minutes late. Keeping these factors in mind, the trainer will be very strict about punctuality. Time period of the time Bundeshwar soldiers ( in german Zeitsoldaten Bundeswehr ) is not fixed.

In the military, you will be asked to work extra hours with no extra pay. You cannot question that. You are expected to obey the higher command readily, thus showing your enthusiasm and eagerness for duty. If you are not willing to make sacrifices, you should not sign up with the military. Your drill instructor will adjust your attitude to a military way of thinking. You will be better disciplined, more loyal and obedient and able to make sacrifices without much thought. Their aim is to take a civilian and mould him into a proud, physically fit and dependent member of the army, willing to make sacrifices and serve his country. By the time you finish with the boot camp, you will be proud of the changes in you.
