The CNA certification exam is the only thing that blocks the way towards becoming a certified nursing aide. It is the exam that will bring you many opportunities and make you part of a team of people who are dedicated to change and save lives.

A nurse aide who just graduated from a state-approved training program is not obliged to take the CNA certification test. The test basically assesses the candidate’s technical knowledge and skills about being a nurse aide. If the candidate succeeds in passing the exam, they become certified nurse assistant and this is very important especially to the employer because it shows that the state guarantees that the certified nursing assistant is capable of providing safe and correct care to the patient and as it seems that certification is a requirement for many hospitals and homes.

The test is divided into two parts namely the written exam followed by the demonstration test. It covers hygiene, nutrition, infection control, ethics and professionalism and proper patient communication. After that, the nurse aide will then demonstrate of common nurse aide procedures like hand washing, patient interaction, housekeeping skills like bed making, feeding and bathing just to name a few.

But since it is voluntary, would bother taking it. Many benefits are attached to becoming a certified nurse aide. One of which is that patients can trust you when you are doing certain procedures to them since the state itself guaranteed your ready to do this. Furthermore, many employers would prefer a CAN than those who are not certified so you have more job opportunities especially that medical personnel are scarce these days. When you are taking the CNA certification test always be ready both in mind and body. But most importantly, being a healthcare worker would also mean you practice what you preach to others, so never take the exam under any circumstance if you are drunk, otherwise, you are defeating the purpose of being a healthcare provider.
