There are many dangers that stem from abusing alcohol, from domestic abuse to car accidents, the numbers seem to rise when alcohol is used. Drinking responsible can be hard sometimes, especially when surrounded by people that drink often. In this article I will offer some tips to help encourage other types of activities to help relieve stress with out the negative consequences.
There are several reasons drinking and driving don't mix, I'm sure you've heard this line a million times in your life, but I'm going to be honest as to why this is true. Example: In the worst of circumstances, just a few drinks could lead you to believe you have the ability to drive home, hit a young man and his dog, sending you to prison for manslaughter, just for having a few drinks at the bar. This is what alcohol does to the brain, it tricks you into thinking you have the ability to do something as well as you would sober, like driving.
Another example, you've had a few drinks and you pull out of the bar, this time there's no one out walking there dog, instead, you notice red and blue lights flashing behind your vehicle. So instead of going to prison for manslaughter, you're given a DUI or DWI. You spend the night in jail, lose your license for several months, spend $1000's in fines and lawyer fees, possibly have to install a breathalyzer in your vehicle (requiring you to blow in it before you start the car every time, and some every 10-15 minutes while driving), and even in some cases you have to wear a gizmo on your ankle that checks your sweat for alcohol. Are those few drinks really relieving stress? Or could alcohol possibly be the under lining cause for this stress.
It can be hard to say no to a beer when you're surrounded by drinkers, but this can be made into a habit like anything else. There are many alternatives to drinking that will help you feel healthier, mentally and physically. Things like exercise, building a healthy work out routine is one way to reduce stress with out alcohol. Picking up a new hobby is also another way, from playing music to sewing to cooking a up some new recipes, everyone has passion in something. These kinds of activities lead to a healthier all around life with out the negative side effects of alcohol.
If you are looking for a healthier alternative to alcohol, marijuana is the leading natural remedy for reducing stress. The United States Government owns a patent on marijuana and THC that states that it is proven to reduce oxidative stress (the leading cause for every diseases, illness, cancer, and tumor growth).. and since marijuana has no negative side effects when used with a vaporizer or congested, it is one the of healthiest alternatives to drinking alcohol.
In summary, I hope you have a new perception on drinking and driving. We all understand life can be stressful, but from experience I can tell you nothing good ever comes from alcohol. There are far better things you could be doing with your time that will help you live a happier, healthier life.
