Car Rental Portugal Faro Airport Renting the right Size Car

A really annoying thing happened on my most recent family holiday. I had made a reservation for a small car rental for our trip to Portugal as we were going to stay in a villa which needed us to have a car. There are just 3 of us in the family and we don’t pack particularly heavy so I thought a small car rental would do. In the past I have taken out small car hires for trips in Portugal and I seem to remember having no problems. This trip however we arrived at the car rental desk in Faro airport and we were given the keys to a Chevy Spark which was a Group B vehicle. This car had a boot so small that we could barely fit one of our medium size suit cases in it.
We only have one child which was lucky since if we had two, there wouldn’t have been enough room in the car hire for us and our bags. We would have upgraded to a larger vehicle but unfortunately the car hire companies in Portugal are really busy during the summer months and there were no larger cars available. Again, in the past on other occasions upgrading on the day is a good alternative if you realise you’ve made a mistake. Car rental companies will often have larger vehicles available and will sometimes offer you a good deal on the day to take out a bigger car.
A car hire Portugal is a must though in my opinion, so I am not trying to put anyone off. Rather, if I was renting again(which of course I will be) I wouldn’t book the cheapest, smallest Car rental Milan; I would go for at least a VW Golf size car which would have been perfect for us on this occasion. You want your holiday to be comfortable so don’t scrimp on the car, as in a place like Portugal where there are so many places and beaches to see, you need to be mobile to make the most of your visit.
A Car rental Portugal is a must for many holiday makers – just make sure you book a car that suits your needs or else like us you’ll struggle to fit everyone and everything in.Top beaches we visited during our holiday include Monte Clerigo near Aljezur and Praia da Mareta.
