Designing and furnishing a cozy and inviting sitting room can be fun! Depending on the type of ambiance or theme you are aiming for, you can choose different types of sofas, book shelves, coffee tables, paint, wallpaper, curtains, lighting, and other sitting room furniture.
The secret is to begin with a definite theme, or at least a clear idea about the kind of ambiance you are aiming for. You can choose from various themes that serve your needs, such as futuristic, minimalistic glamour; cozy, traditional elegance; glamorous luxury; and more.
Sofas
Sofas are the mainstay of any sitting room. A sofa is usually the most important part of the sitting room and hence must be chosen with care. For smaller rooms, you can opt for narrower or smaller sofas and love seats. Larger rooms can have ultra-luxurious sofas with thickly cushioned armrests and headrests. Leather sofas are perfect for a glamorous sitting room. Wooden sofas with comfy mattresses can invoke a cozy and traditional ambiance. Cane sofas can be used for really small rooms.
Coffee Tables
Coffee tables that complement the sofas are the perfect accent for the sitting room. You can choose to go for low, rectangular coffee tables placed in front of the sofa. You can also have low oblong or round coffee tables. They can also double up as storage space. Shelves beneath the surface can be used to hold magazines, books, or newspapers. If you have a large sitting room, you can also have higher coffee tables with matching chairs placed in one part of the sitting room, creating a mini parlor where you can chat or dine cozily with friends.
Special Furniture
Fire places and book shelves can go a long way in giving the sitting room a warm and inviting look. Nothing makes a room cozier than a fire place. On the other hand, wooden book shelves give a classy and elegant look to the sitting room.
With a little planning and creative thinking, you can get the sitting room of your dreams. It can be a place where you curl up comfortably on the sofa and relax as you read a book. It can also be a charming and festive hub where you entertain your guests and friends.
