Once "Chicken Fried" hit the country radio in 2008 it turned into a huge hit and put Zac Brown Band on the same level as one of the most amazing country musicians, next to Brad Paisley and Keith Urban. Everybody wanted to know who they are and where on Earth did they come from? Well, Zac Brown Band story is a testimony that success doesn't happen overnight and it calls for a whole lot of work. And don't forget having passion for what you're doing.

Zac Brown learned how to play when he was about eight years old. Perhaps he was trying to stand out in his huge family, he was the 11th child out of 12? Speak about having to fight for attention. I only had one sister and always felt she was getting all of the attention, I can't even start to imagine what it's like having to compete with eleven siblings. I am positive Zac Brown is receiving plenty of that attention now. He didn't just get luck with a one hit number, "Chicken Fried", he was talented enough to follow it up with great hits such as "Whatever It Is", "Toes", and "Highway 20 Ride". Most of which hit number one spot. His latest single "Knee Deep" just went to number one in country charts, once more. But, as I talked about earlier, success did not happen overnight. It took Zac a lot of hard work, willpower, and belief, in order to get to where he is at the moment.

Zac became a musician at an early age. Since he was a teenager he started playing in regional venues and in college he formed a band, which broke up as they were recording their first CD. That is when Zac realized music was his passion and made a decision to pursue it full time. Once he formed his Zac Brown Band in 2002, it took his band six years to achieve stardom level. Their "Chicken Fried" single, which became number one in 2008 was at first recorded in 2003. They re-recorded it once they signed up with Live National Records, then Atlantic Records took over and released it in 2008. It became an instant sensation. Now three years later Zac Brown Band still provides famous hits and shows no signs of slowing down.

I believe if there is something to take away from Zac Brown's experience, it is knowledge that success doesn't happen over night. Sometimes it takes years to get to where you want to be and usually overnight success takes a long time to achieve.

That is what I do not get about these kids these days. They all wish to be rock stars, yet you look at their work habits and you wonder if that is what they actually want. They believe just because they can play guitar that stardom will just fall on their lap and they will be an instantaneous hit. They won't realize that all these famous rock stars, that they so much admire, gone through a lot of sweat and tears to get to where they are today. You have to take control of your own success, in this business no one is going to take you by the hand and lead you to it.
