It's amazing how much you can accumulate over the years, from CDs and DVDs to old board games and antiques. Most people feel the need to hold on to these items and can find it hard to let go. Whether it's possible to hold on to things you would like to keep all comes down to the space you have. When you feel your home is becoming cluttered it might be time to sit down and go through your stuff to find the things that you no longer need or use.
In terms of CDs, one possibility is to purchase a large cd case to house them all. This then allows you to throw away the individual plastic cases, saving an incredible amount of space. Alternatively, if you convert the CDs to MP3s and have music apparatus that plays MP3s, the CDs are no longer needed and you can sell these to certain companies to earn some spare cash. However, you should backup your MP3s on a separate memory drive to keep them safe in case the original MP3s are lost due to some unforeseeable incident.
In terms of DVDs you can do something similar to the CDs and purchase a large case to fit them all in, then being able to throw away the empty DVD cases. Alternatively, there is software available that allows you to save your DVDs onto your computer and play them from there. However it is understandable that some people would prefer to use a DVD player.
There will be objects where this sort of process isn't applicable such as books or objects that don't come in cases. When this is the case, you will have to make the decision of whether to keep it or to sell it or to throw it away. With the introduction of websites such as Ebay, it is now possible to make some extra money from second hand objects quite easily and it always helps knowing that something you once cherished will now be used by another person.
Alternatively, there is the option of self storage facilities, where you are able to rent a unit and store any valuables or objects you don't want to throw away and still want to keep. This also allows you the opportunity to free up some space in your home.
It can often be stressful when clearing out the clutter from your house but the feeling afterwards makes the process worthwhile. It can also free up some much needed space and positively affect your lifestyle at home.
