Some of these laboratory tests have revealed that tart cherry has anti-inflammatory properties and is a rich source of phytochemicals like anthocyanins, which impart the gorgeous red color to this fruit.
There are more than 300 types of anthocyanins and tart cherry offers a unique blend of several of them. These anthocyanins are powerful antioxidants that can protect body cells and tissues from the oxidative damage caused by free radicals. In addition to relieving pain associated with arthritis, cherry juice can also be beneficial in another condition, known as gout. Gout is the inflammation of the toe and foot caused by the error in uric acid metabolism, which results in the deposition of salts, in the blood stream and joints.
Cherry juice has known to decrease the level of uric acid in the blood and so can provide relief from gout. Regular consumption of cherries can reduce the risk of hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, heart attacks, vascular headaches and strokes. Anthocyanins found in cherries, may also be effective in preventing colon cancer. Drinking cherry juice after physical exercises can reduce muscle soreness and also helps repair muscles.During the clinical research on the cherry juice gout relief therapy is still in the early stages, there is no set "prescription" for their use or consumption. Anyway, it seems that the majority of human get benefit from consuming about two-three tablespoons of tart cherry juice concentrate per each day, or one to two servings of fresh or dried cherries. Just like with any other type of treatment, however, different people will naturally respond differently to cherries and the end results gained will most likely be varied.
While some people may have a little skeptical opinion about the benefits of cherry juice in the treatment of gout and arthritis, many are sure finding that it is a wonderful way to take control of their pain and get moving again with the help of a very easy and delicious cure.
