Today, the world is dominated by machines and computers are the most important among them. If you have internet connectivity in your computer, you have access to the whole world. Communication also becomes easier and convenient with the use of e-mails and other communication media via the internet. It takes just few seconds for an e-mail to reach from one person to another in different countries. Have you ever wondered how this is possible? This is all possible due to the SMTP servers that are installed at various places for quick delivery of emails and messages via internet. Installation of a SMTP mail server becomes mandatory for companies that depend on online marketing particularly email marketing. The SMTP servers enhance the marketing endeavors and bring positive results.
Most of the e-mail services available on the internet have SMTP servers set up so that mails reach and go faster and smoother. You can also set a SMTP mail server in your computer if you need to send out bulk emails. This is quite a common practice with companies that follow email marketing campaigns. These campaigns prove to be successful than many other marketing strategies that are adopted by many companies. In e-mail marketing campaigns bulk mails are sent out to large numbers of people. There is large database of e-mail address and random mails are sent to the addresses through SMTP servers. There are high chances that if 1000 mails are sent out, 100 mails will be opened and read. Out of that some might click on the company’s link that is provided in the e-mail. Thus, it is quite evident that the response rate is quite high in e-mail marketing. A SMTP mail server is really useful in sending out bulk mails.
Once the company starts getting ready responses from the emails that are sent out as a part of email marketing campaign, they tend to increase the volumes of the mails that are sent out. This is when problems start with SMTP servers. Each SMTP mail server has limitations and when overburdened, they start to create problems. This happens with anything and SMTP servers are nothing different. The first thing that happens on overburdening is that the SMTP mail server stops sending emails and a delivery failure notification is sent to the inbox of the email sender. The delivery failure message is also sent if the e-mail address of the mail recipient is wrong. When the server cannot find the address of the recipient, it redirects the mail to the sender with a delivery failure notification.
SMTP servers also help in keeping the mail system safe and secured. It helps in blocking spam and other unwanted elements from entering the inbox. Nowadays various kinds of SMTP mail server software are also available in the market that can be installed in the computer. It augments the process of e-mail sending and receiving. The software is commonly used in the companies that deal with e-mail marketing and other online marketing strategies.
