Rome is the ancient city that is the capital of Italy and was the centre of the Roman Empire under the great Emperors such as Julius Caesar and Nero. The city is filled with art, architecture and history and a true feast for the eyes. With its friendly people and beautiful language, Rome is the ideal place to go if you want to immerse yourself in culture and history.
Best Time to Travel to Rome
Rome enjoys the same seasons as the rest of Europe, although it is perhaps slightly less cold in winter. The summers are very hot and dry, which can be enjoyable if you have no issues with high temperatures. Most visitors agree that spring and autumn are the best times to visit Rome, when the temperatures are manageable and rainfall is just enough to cool things down without becoming a nuisance.
Attractions to See in Rome
There are so many things to see and do in Rome that you may need several months to see them all. The many fountains of Rome are certainly worth a visit, as are the remnants and ruins of the ancient Roman culture, such as the Coliseum, the varying Roman baths and the aqueducts.
Rome is also one of the fashion capitals of Europe, and shopping is hence a very enjoyable experience.
Of course, a visit to the Vatican should also not be missed.
You could also spend some time visiting the multitude of fountains and churches, most of which have been designed by some of Italy’s greatest artists such as Michelangelo.
Restaurants and Bars in Rome
Italy is perhaps best known for its pizzas and pastas, and the restaurants in and around Rome cater for these tastes. Of course, it is also possible to enjoy more international cuisine, such as Indian, Chinese or American, but when in Rome, a true Italian experience of pizza, pasta and of course ice cream should not be missed.
Nightlife in Rome is fantastic. It is important to remember that the nightlife starts very late, particularly since many Italians do not start their evening meal until around 9.30 at night. Italians like to discuss, so when dinners is finished, you may find yourself listening in to a long conversation about where best to go. Sit back, and enjoy the intonation of one of the world’s most beautiful languages and then go with the flow to whichever bar or club your party ends up agreeing on.

When in Rome, you may find it a cost effective solution to hire a car, enabling you to travel as and when you want, without any restrictions. There are many car hire companies available in Rome, such as Easy Car, First Car Hire, Car Hire 3000, Rhino Car Hire, Nova Car Hire, Any Car Hire and Rome Explorer.
So, whether you are visiting for the arts, the architecture, the language, the food, fashion, history or culture, you are sure to find something in Rome that will captivate and fascinate you.
