When you hear the word "decals," you don't associate the decoration of your living room or personal space with something normally reserved for race cars. Decals, however, are no longer reserved to the racetrack and racing stripes. Wall decals actually have a rich history in Europe, when in the mid 1700's a Frenchman perfected a way of using lithograph technology to transfer an image to tissue paper and from tissue paper to ceramic tiles for the walls. This method remained very popular until the invention of paper and the printing presses in the 1850's. Walls decals weren't a mainstream production in the America's until 1894. In the 1930's, with the invention of silk-screen printing, decals took on a whole new life. Wall decals were no longer one-dimensional. Artists and designers could now add layers upon layers of colors together which gave the industry of decals a whole new life. Technology continued to change the way wall decals were not only produced, but also how they looked and were applied. These days, decals come in a wide variety of changeable content: contemporary and traditional to monogram wall decals. The decoration of your home and office can now be as personalized as you want it to be.
These days, wall decals are easier than ever to customize and apply. Various companies offer services to create decal designs in your image, for any occasion or location. You can choose from animals, to polka dots, to scenery, to names, to monogram wall decals. Decals of all sizes are self-adhesive and will adhere to most wall surfaces, from glass, to wood, to metal. Keep in mind, though, that decals need a flat, clean surface and will not work on rough textured walls. Decals are finished with a matte vinyl so the image not only looks great on your wall, but resists water and smoke damage. Your wall decals are designed to last for years; should interior design tastes change in any way, the decals are easy to remove and will not damage your foundation underneath.
No matter the style, content, or size of walls decals, there are two standard ways to apply them: with transfer tape, or without transfer tape. The first method requires application of the decal similar to that of temporary tattoos: placing the reversed image on a wall and using a squeegee to burnish the appliqué to the surface. Others, such as monogram wall decals, apply as easily as stickers: just peel and stick.
Wall decals of all designs are becoming the new standard and idea for home and party decoration. Parents can plan for the upcoming new addition with personalized monogram wall decals. Business management can decorate the front office to offer an inviting reception for employees and customers. Wall decals are fun, safe to apply and remove, and can change with the seasons, just like you.
