Arlington, TX – September 15, 2011 – The National Education Alliance is pleased to announce that grants totaling nearly $20,000 have been awarded to Senior Care Centers Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs). This initiative is part of a broader effort to support the career ladder of the nursing profession and elevate the nurse’s voice and contribution in the healthcare industry. Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) working at Senior Care Centers will now have an opportunity to explore additional educational pathways to career advancement, including degree programs, certificate programs, and skill enhancement courses. Distance learning and online classes will give LPNs the flexibility they need to feasibly complete this program in approximately two years while working full-time, allowing them to advance their careers while earning full-time wages.
"We are excited to partner with the National Education Alliance to offer this great educational opportunity to our team members. We are looking forward to their graduation and continued employment with Senior Care Centers," said Cindy Wheeler, Director of People Strategy for Senior Care Centers.
"We are honored to collaborate with every one of these facilities to support the educational aspirations of their LVNs," says Shara Wright, President of the National Education Alliance. "Since the initial roll-out of this collaborative project between Senior Care Centers and the National Education Alliance, the National Education Alliance has visited 30 centers and met with over 77 LVNs. In partnership with Rue Education, we have been able to provide unique education opportunities to nurses throughout the country. As of this morning, we have awarded grants (ranging between $600 and $2,000) to 24 Senior Care Centers’ employees."
