Coir Door mats is the most environmentally friendly mat in the market. Coir Mat is a 100 % green product as it made from the renewable and natural fiber in the outer husk of coconuts. The coconuts are de-husked and the fiber is soaked in water for some time. The fibers get separated by being immersed in water and are then spun into yarn which is used to make different types of coir flooring products like carpets, rugs and mats. Moreover, they don't put any pressure on the world's resources as the coconuts come from abundant sources of coconut trees and coconut plantations.
Cleaning and maintenance of coir doormats is very easy and can be done by shaking or beating the mat. Regular vacuuming the doormat with a suction-brush attachment even when it does not look dirty after shaking off big clumps of soil will aid in extending the life cycle of the mats. It will also help pull out the invisible dirt from your coir mat, maintain its good appearance and help remove stains. If there are any spills, make sure you wipe your coir doormats immediately with a clean cloth without any dye in it. You have to be careful not to scrub your coir doormat or allow the liquid to spread although you cannot completely eliminate the moisture. But make sure to air dry your coir doormat.
With coir door mats, you don't need to worry about color fading as coir mats tend to look like unfinished wood with constant exposure to sun, however we can expect minimal difference in the area of the coir mat exposed to sun and that those are not.
Coir Doormats have to be sprayed lightly with water frequently for areas with low humidity i.e areas neat heat ducts , rooms that have a dry climate or humidity controlled or high-traffic areas. Doing this will lengthen the life cycle and improve the texture and appearance of coir matting. This can be done with a damp mop, a spray bottle or a light sprinkle. Coir mats need less moistening compared to other mats as it dries up at a smaller time. Before moistening your coir matting make sure to thoroughly clean and vacuum it to avoid stains created from dissolved dirt.
One of the problems that can arise with coir matting in high traffic areas is that edges can get curled. This problem with coir doormats can be easily fixed by dampening the curled part and weighing it down over night. If the edges are severely curled then this doormat need this treatment more than once to become flat again.
Coir is a wonderful natural fibre that's ecologically friendly and long lasting. It can be an excellent choice as an area rug or as a mat in high traffic areas. Check out all the options available to you and see if coir is the right choice for your home.
There is a wide variety of coir mats out there including the go away doormat, plain coco mats, welcome doormats and funny doormats. Moreover, coir mats are great for trapping dirt and moisture and can be used for both commercial and household entrances. Furthermore, coir doormats are very long lasting and durable.
