Businesses monitor employee activities for valid company justifications, such as legal compliance and liability, productivity measures, performance review, and security concerns. Within the recent studies, 90% of the businesses are informing their staff about this practice. One of the employees at a well-known company once suffered from an issue with her direct supervisor.

With one of the spot checks performed on her work station, the higher management was shocked to see their conversation and emails, which are usually during working hours. This is plainly just one example why we have to monitor employees. It does not really mean that they're doing anything wrong. Anyway, they shouldn't be concerned by any means if they are simply doing the right things.

Employee monitoring has been practiced in our business for years. When I started working for the company, the employees in our personnel ensured the policies of the company were explained to us. One rule was that the company has the right to monitor us within the workplace. It was necessary to keep our files confidential and to make certain we were doing work during work hours. I felt uncomfortable in the beginning knowing that there are CCTV's all over the place. Mobile phones and various gadgets weren't allowed within the business office too, so I had to adjust. I complained and whined at the beginning, especially when I found out that a lot of websites were blocked by our IT office. I want to browse more sites, which I think may benefit my work. I needed to enter some websites to do the task well. It had been resolved eventually when I spoke with our supervisor and informed her my dilemma. They allowed me a few access and I surely could do my work without delays.

To be a supervisor in a huge business is difficult. I have to make certain our workers are really productive. Employee monitoring could have been simpler if I am just responsible for ten employees; however, I'm in control of fifty crews in one shift. Worse, many of them are working with computers, and I couldn't monitor their work activities simply by utilizing a CCTV camera. What I managed to do was to download monitoring software over the Internet and added it on every computer system while they had been on off. The following day, I captured five employees just playing some games using their office computers while their co-workers were working hard. Because it was the first time it happened, I just issued a memo, and they were grateful for it. From then on, the workers were conscious of what they were doing. More work was completed for the business. My superiors obviously were happy and offered me a huge bonus.

I had a lunch one time with my friends and colleagues. All of us had a great chitchat over sumptuous meals, however I observed my friend seemed so worried. I finished eating and asked him why. He shook his head and sob. He claimed that he couldn't imagine one of his trusted staff to betray him. It appears that one of the company's confidential files were taken and were sold for bidding to his opponents. He said that he lost countless money because of that.

My other friend tapped his shoulder and pointed out, " From now on, I will help you invest in employee monitoring systems." My friend got surprised, but my colleague kept smiling on him. He explained that it's one of his tricks why his company is profitable. He said he can monitor employees remotely and can ensure that they are doing their work properly. Additionally, it could protect company's profile and files. My friend was optimistic that it'll never happen to his business again, thanks to our great colleague who wasn't self-centered to share his secrets.
