Deadbolt locks, closed doors, and locked windows are just some of the security practices and devices that are installed and practiced at everyone’s home to keep their families safe. Many people even sign on to home security systems with remote monitoring. Another important home security device which many people tend to overlook, is home security lighting.
There are a few different ways to take advantage of home security lighting. The dusk till dawn technique is more than just a movie. It is also a common home lighting technique. With the dusk till dawn technique, you run your lights at all times. You'll find that this technique will lead people to believe somebody is home and awake at all times. Unfortunately, this tactic can dramatically increase your electric bill.
Motion activated lighting gets rid of the aforementioned disadvantage and still provide lighting when it is needed. This type of lighting system is much more efficient than the dusk to dawn technique. Motion sensors help detect motion so that criminals will never be able to hide from your home lighting. Lights that are activated through motion will illuminate intruders and make both you and your neighbors aware of their presence.
Another technique is to use a two pronged attack. This can be done by using the dusk to dawn technique at a lower power, which means it is a little bit dimmer than normal, and then when motion is detected the motion activated flood lights will then turn on, which increases the brightness. This type of lighting security setup is commonly called a "hi-low or hi-lo" technique.
It is very important that before you buy a lighting security device for your house, you should first ask for the advice and help of an expert and trusted person on what kind of lighting system best fits your house. The lighting you put up should help keep your family safe and sound throughout the year.
While you can't depend solely on lights to keep you safe at night, they are an inexpensive way to help increase your security. It is still important that you lock your doors and windows, and see to it that you do not attract burglars into stealing things from your house.
