Throw a Fun Vacation Party
Remember the last time you went to a friends house to see their vacation pictures? Even though you were excited for your friends thought the pictures were nice, you swore you would never put your friends through that. Until, that is, you went on your own incredible vacation and burst at the seams to share it with them; but how do you make it exciting? How do you make an event that may be boring to others, interesting? Just at the mere mention of having people come over to see your pictures gets you a strained smile, a fake promise that they can’t wait to see your photos and rolled eyes as they walk away. That’s only because they have never seen it done the way I’ll describe below; Make it a party and have fun with it. You may even inspire your friends to do the same; the next thing you know, you will be celebrating their vacation vicariously at the next party.
First and most importantly you want to make sure to set up comfortable surroundings. Theme your party from the place you vacationed. Make the food, or the types of food you ate while you were there. Even if it’s just hors d’oeuvres they can be beautifully decorated or placed on interesting plates to look enticing. Make some of the cocktails you drank while you were on your trip as well. This part of your party will start to make them wish they had been there with you and look forward to seeing the pictures and or videos. Place any souvenirs you may have acquired around your place of sitting as these can be icebreakers, or conversation starters. Telling the story behind it will definitely make it fun and peak their interest.
Rent a projector to play a nice slide show or video of your vacation. Set it to music making sure to time pictures just right to give you time to narrate what’s going on. Keeping this in mind before you take your vacation next time will actually help with choosing what pictures to take, and make sure to add some silly ones in there for comic relief. You want your guests to have fun and share this experience with you. You will be surprised what masterpieces you can make with projectors these days. When it comes time to plan your next vacation, your friends will actually look forward to your next vacation party!
