Avatar was only 2 years ago, and at that time U.K movie goers turned out in in their thousands to watch 3D films - 78% of all movies watched were 3D. The statistics for the most recent six months show that figure at a depressing 40%. All and sundry thought Avatar was the true beginning for 3D. I'll admit I only viewed the 3D edition on TV but, I was hugely impressed. The BBC furthermore cite the price crash on Nintendo 3DS consoles these have been price-cut by £100 in the U.K. This really is, in my opinion, stretching a point, they are not the same market. You just can not produce a comparison at all.

One fact that did surface out of this all is that gross sales of 3D TV sets are down in the U.K and struggling. The same thing is happening at this time in the U.S as well. Undoubtedly Europe has horrible economic troubles again with the state of affairs in the Eurozone. That is unquestionably dragging the U.K downward with it. Likewise we are not lacking troubles either unfortunately. But is that the possible reason of the collapse in 3D TV sales?

"People who watch 3D TV are three times more likely to suffer from headache, eye strain or blurred vision". I certainly can't agree with that based on my own experiences. On the other hand, I don't at this time have a 3D TV myself, so I do not watch 3D content night after night.

And, I reckon the majority of folks (me included) will get some sort of trouble for watching TV for 12 hours with no breather! Ben Kingsley stars and has gone out of his way to heap superlatives on Scorcese's utilization of 3D. I understand there are going to be some new 3D techniques like taking you "in" to the heart of a crowd of people.

So, is 3D on the decline? A definite "no" from me, I am sure there are buyers waiting, but they merely need to see a definitive track for 3D TV.
