Emergencies can be unpredictable, so you never know when you will need your disaster stock. There could be an earthquake, severe weather conditions or an unplanned shortage of food. When there is an emergency, we need to always be ready to protect our family's needs. Being prepared entails having satisfactory emergency food supply as well as unfilled storage.
Emergency stock packages consist of basic items that individuals may require should some type of emergency occur. In addition to your home, it is imperative that you establish one in your vehicle and place of employment as well. The randomness and unpredictability of disasters requires you to always be prepared. The packages will not only provide you the necessities, it is possible they will save your life. Educate yourself on what items you need to have in your disaster kit, because they are of the utmost importance.
I will try to make you aware of things you will need. There should be an emergency source package almost everywhere you go: your home, your vehicle, and your work. In them you should find medical packages and nutritious items of food. The first item that you should ensure that your kit has is water. For each person that you are supplying for, it is imperative you provide them with one gallon of water a day. However, if you live in a region that is considered to be relatively hot and humid, you may want to add additional sources of water. Use the water only for hydration and hygiene to insure the supply lasts, hydration being the most important. In addition to a source of hydration, also have an edible source of nourishment in your package. There are foods geared toward disastrous times, and it is a good idea to choose them. Prepackaged and pre-prepared meals are best. Foods that will use more of your water source are not recommended. The dietary needs of each person of your group are good to consider as well. Your source of food should last everyone at least three days, and up to seven.
These packages should also include first aid supplies, disaster lighting, disaster radios, items needed for sanitation and personal hygiene needs, items that will assist in providing shelter, as well as items that may help to create a fire for warmth and cooking. Some people choose to stash extra clothes, blankets, etc., and things that will keep them from harm. In order to stay alive and survive, you'll want to make sure you have ever item you could possibly need during perilous times.
In the event of an oncoming storm, fill up all sinks and tubs. It can come in handy when the power is out and there is no water. It is best used for boiling, drinking, and waste disposal. You can go a long time without eating, but not without hydrating. A small stove-top is essential to have in your emergency stock package.
