Tip-off Basketball is a fun arcade style basketball game, where the main goal is to throw the ball into a basket. Use your finger to set the trajectory of the ball, and aim. Now, release to shoot the ball. Once you have tried a few times, you should be able to judge the correct trajectory, distance, etc. You can earn coins by scoring combos, or trick shots. These coins can be used to acquire various items in the in-game shop, such as double gauge, new colors for the backboard, etc. The game has 3 modes: Career mode, Training mode, and network mode.
The career mode is intensive and has more than 40 levels and 100 achievements. There are different objectives that must be met for each level, before you can continue to the next. Some of the objectives include, achieving a certain score, scoring a particular number of baskets, etc. Each level also has a certain time limit, and you get extra time for making special shots. You can enter the frenzy mode by scoring successive baskets. In frenzy mode the goal is to touch the screen at particular spots successfully within the time limit and gain free basket points. There is also a training mode where you can sharpen your skills and master the game.
In Network mode, you can compete with players from around the world, and view worldwide leaderboards with achievements. Network mode uses Openfeint, one of the most widely used multiplayer platform for online gaming. Network mode is similar to career mode, except that you can now see the scores of the top 6 player on your screen. Challenge your friends by adding them in your Openfeint friend list. You can also challenge random opponents online, across the global network. The online cross-platform multiplayer mode lets you play with users from other platforms. The game progress can be saved on the cloud. Tip-off basketball is a simple, addictive game that will leave you wanting more.
