If you are a petite woman, you likely are happy with the way that you look but you are not necessarily happy with all of the options that you have available to you. Unfortunately, much of the fashion that is currently on the market is designed more for women who are full figured and that isn't going to work for you. You should also consider the possibility that there are clothing and design choices that will help to add some perceived height or perhaps leanness to your body. Here are some of the ways for you to make that happen.

Perhaps one of the most important things that you can do if you are petite is to coordinate your dress so that it is a single color. If you're trying to go for a slimming effect, look for something in one of the darker colors such as black or charcoal. Even a dark green or burgundy is going to work for this regard. Of course, it's important to not leave anything out of the mix so you would want to ensure that you were dressing in one color all the way from your shoes to the top of your head. It really can make a difference in how you look to others.

Something that you can do to add a lot of height to your body is to choose clothing that has vertical lines in it. These vertical lines do not necessarily need to be stripes but they should be vertical seams or perhaps just the overall design of the clothes giving a vertical look. This can really add some height perception to the way that you look. Conversely, you should avoid any horizontal lines because they can not only make you look shorter, they can add quite a few pounds to the way that you look as well.

Don't be afraid to wear heels if you want to add some height as well. This is perhaps the easiest thing that you can do in order to make a difference in the way that you look as far as your height is concerned. The difference between wearing heels and wearing vertical lines is the fact that the heels actually will add inches. It is important to note, however, that ankle straps and other types of straps that go around the legs are going to break up any vertical lines that you may have on your clothing and can make you appear to be shorter.

Finally, not only consider the clothing that you have which is visible to others, consider the clothing that is invisible as well. If you are smaller busted, and need an A bra, perhaps a 32A, it is important to make sure that you get top quality items. Many women who are smaller busted tend to overlook exactly what kind of a difference this can make, not only in their comfort but in how they look when they are wearing them. A little bit of extra money on quality is going to make a difference in the long run.
