Isn't it difficult to install hardwood floor?
You may have doubts in choosing hardwood in flooring because of the perceived installation difficulty. Here are some of the ways to set up hardwood floor that you can handle with ease.
a. Nail Down. This installation method is commonly applied with ¾" solid products. The flooring is attached to the subfloor with 2" nailing cleats. Always remember that solid strip floor or plank floors should be installed on wooden subfloors that are on the same grade level or above grade.
b. Glue Down. Engineered hardwood floors are usually installed using this style. You simply spread adhesive onto the subfloor using a proper sized trowel and then the planks are set into the adhesive.
c. Staple Down. This is easier than the nail-down style for do-it-yourself installation. You need a pneumatic staple gun to drive staples through the tongue of the wood planks and into the wood subfloor underneath. Instead of nailing cleats, staples are used to secure the hardwood flooring to the wood subfloor.
d. Glue-less installation. With the advent of modern technology, some hardwood flooring manufacturers recently introduce engineered hardwood floors with glue-less locking system. Meaning, the floor will float on the variety of sub floors such as concrete slabs, wood, and other types of existing floors.
What is engineered wood flooring?
