Having your kitchen cabinets sufficiently illuminated is very important, as they contain food or food-related items. You can also have utensils that you use for cooking stored in the cabinets. Therefore, you need to install bright cabinet lights to be able to see well inside your storage space.
LEDs are much more suited for lighting cabinets for a variety of reasons. They remain cool even after hours of operation, and are therefore ideal for illuminating food containers. Traditional lights can heat up quite quickly and can cause the food to spoil sooner.
LEDs typically consume much less power than traditional incandescent bulbs and fluorescent tubes. The amount of power that you can save with LEDs could be quite substantial. Unlike closed cabinets which require the LEDs to burn only when you open the door, open cabinets and shelves containing show case items and souvenirs may need the lights to burn all the time. Using LEDs for illuminating these cabinets would therefore help you save a lot on energy bills.
You can get LED lights that consume just one watt of power. Even with such low power consumption, LED lamps can output an incredible amount of light. This is basically because LEDs are very efficient in turning electrical energy into light energy. Traditional lamps are less efficient in this process and use a lot of the energy to produce heat instead of light. LEDs on the other hand utilize almost the entire input energy to generate light. That is precisely why LED lamps are never hot even after several hours of operation.
Especially when used to light cabinets that hold showcase items, it is important that the illuminating lights remain cool. Some objects can be sensitive to heat. Moreover, people might want to pick up and handle the items on the shelves. Using a light that can heat up the items would therefore be less desirable. LEDs on the other hand would efficiently illuminate the showcase items but never heat them up like traditional lights do. Therefore, they are the most ideal types of lights to be used inside cabinets.
LEDs also have a much longer life than traditional bulbs and are much more cost effective in the long run. Even though you might incur initial costs while replacing your old lights with new LED lamps, you would not have to replace them frequently due to their longer life. Therefore, LEDs would prove to be a much more cost effective solution for lighting your cabinets.
