A destination with abundant natural beauty is a prime candidate for tourist activity. Mexico fits the bill perfectly. Its beautiful beaches, lush green forest, marine wildlife, desert landscape, cascading hills and tropical wildlife has made it the number one tourist country in the Caribbean region. Many times, tourist destination fall prey to rampant human greed, over consumption and commercialization. This kind of unsustainable growth puts both the nature and its inhabitants at risk. Not only lives are endangered but also their livelihood and economic survival.
Fortunately, Mexico has been blessed with sagacity on the part of authorities who recognized that sustainable growth is the only way possible for tourism. Tourism directly affects many other industries such as real estate. Because of Mexico’s tourism boom, Mexico real estate has flourished almost unabated even when recession was at its peak all over the US.
One of the ways to make preserve the nature is to make use of renewable sources of energy which are not only clean but also do the least bit of damage to the environment. One such initiative is the government’s encouragement to renewable sources of energy. Recently, Mexican President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa yesterday inaugurated the Oaxaca II, III and IV wind parks, owned by Acciona. The three energy parks with combined power generation capacity of 306 Megawatt can light-up more than 700,000 homes and that too without using harmful carbon fuel sources. The Mexican President was accompanied by ACCIONA President José Manuel Entrecanales, who reiterated his company's commitment to the produce electricity through renewable sources of energy and contribute to the sustainable development of Mexico. The plants will help avoid the emission of 670 million tonnes of CO2 to the atmosphere a year which is equal to the cleaning effect of 33.5 million trees through the process of photosynthesis. CO2 emissions from the burning of carbon fuel sources contribute to greenhouse effect and subsequent global warming.
With measures like this, Mexico natural resources will not be plundered even while Mexico will continue to make giant economic strides. Tourism been its main economic activity cannot afford Mexico to lose its beauty and culture at the altar of development.
Such measures prove that Mexico’s authorities are cued in to pressing global and local environment issues and know that long term development need not be harmful for the environment. This means that global business can be confident that their investments in Mexico won’t suffer as consequence of negative effects of nature’s backlash because of unrestrained & damaging growth trajectory.
Tourism in all parts of Mexico has been directly impacted because of such positive moves. In fact, real estate has also seen the positive spinoffs from the increased environment awareness. Many property laws have been enacted which make an effort to minimize the danger to coastlines. Tourist destinations like Los Cabos real estate region have been able to stave off commercialization and retain its natural beauty.
Los Cabos is the one of most popular places for retirees and expats in Mexico. Its coastline, beaches and desert like landscape attracts tourists from all over the world
