Garden water fountains, whether hanging on a wall or standing in the yard are always a winning option for adding value to your home and offering a soothing, relaxing sound for entertaining or just hanging out.
There is no garden theme that cannot be enhanced or complimented by the presence of an outdoor water fountain. Many homeowners select fountains that have features and flourishing that blend with those of their home. For Mediterranean homeowners, there are the traditional tiered fountains with giant bases that are reminiscent of the beautiful courtyards of the colonial churches, missions and monasteries.
But perhaps you have a modern home with 1960s-style artisan features and angles. You could select something made of glass that stands as a monument to the modern art landscape, possibly one standing in a copper or silver colored square base with designer pebbled glass or stones to give it that softer but artier look.
Wall fountains are perfect options for those who want a garden fountain but are either limited on yard space or have small children or animals and do not want the water itself to be accessible to little critters. Wall fountains offer a way to put the soothing sounds of running water in your garden while providing an art piece for a large wall or even a smaller one, as manufacturers can make garden fountains in custom sizes today to fit just about any space.
Did you know you no longer need an electrical outlet to have a garden fountain in your yard? Solar powered fountains are very popular and, like traditional electric fountains, they come in many different sizes, shapes and styles. Small solar panels are sold with the fountains and are used to generate the power needed to keep your fountain running whenever you like. No more extension cords or worries about electricity costs—you just keep the solar power pointed in the sun’s direction and you have a garden fountain that will be ready to run when you are.
Many homeowners like to select fountains that reflect their personalities. Some enjoy the look and feel of a Roman-style fountain with lions spitting the water from their mouths. Others prefer fountains with more of a Florentine look, featuring flowers and intricate designs that are slightly more feminine.
Whichever style of fountain you happen to prefer, you can usually find what you’re looking for at any garden landscape furnishings retailer or large home and building supply centers, although the later option generally will have a much more limited supply of styles to choose from. However, you can easily have a custom garden fountain made for you by any one of the manufactures supplying the retailer in your neighborhood. You’ll have to wait of course to get your garden fountain, but once you do, you’ll know you will be getting one that is unique to your style and preferences.
Garden fountains generally come in stone or ceramic, however, many also are being made from recycled materials, which, when coupled with a solar-powered option for generating the water flow, make for an ideal "green" option for those who are wanting to reduce their carbon footprint while they enjoy the sound of their fountains.
Also, there are many colors available for fountains, as the materials used can be died or stained, so you are never stuck with plain old concrete. Many fountain and statuary suppliers will display unfinished models that can be colored to suit your outdoor décor and personal style.
Regardless of what type of garden fountain lover you are, there is a unique garden fountain style, color and size out there waiting for you to enjoy. All you have to do is decide what your fountain of choice is!
