Save on Energy Costs with a Tankless Water Heater
Over the last few years, there's been a lot of talk about energy efficiency.
Whether it's saving gas by driving a fuel-efficient vehicle or doing something as simple as unplugging electronics when they're not in use, consumers are looking for ways to reduce energy consumption and save money.
One of the newest energy-efficient technologies is the tankless water heater, a space-saving home heating device that's becoming more and more popular in new homes (and older homes) alike. Hot water heating is a significant contributor to home energy waste, and tankless water heaters do a lot to reduce energy costs.
So how exactly do tankless water heaters save consumers energy and money?
Tankless Water Heaters vs. Storage Water Heaters
In short, tankless water heaters only provide hot water as needed. Whereas conventional storage water heaters constantly use energy to heat your water supply, tankless water heaters are essentially in standby mode until your hot water tap is turned on, thereby avoiding the unnecessary energy loss caused by heating your water 24/7.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, tankless water heaters can be up to 24-50 percent more energy efficient than their storage tank model counterparts. Although this percentage will vary by hot water use, water heater model and more, families with tankless water heaters installed in their homes should start to see noticeable drops in their energy bills.
Save Even More Money with Tax Credits & Rebates
Did you know that on top of lowering energy bill prices, many tankless water heater purchases also qualify for local tax credit?
A number of water heater installation companies and plumbing companies, like Progressive Plumbing & Drains in Raleigh, North Carolina, deliver great discounts on tankless water heaters as well, and many states offer additional incentives for energy-saving home products like these.
Please contact your state's energy office or your local utility service provider for more information and let them help you decide if a tankless water heater would be a good investment for your home!
