TERA Online has quickly become one of the most popular MMO (massively multiplayer online) games for the PC. While it's primary subscriber base is comprised of members from Asian countries there is a large presence of American and European players, too. Released to North America on May 1, 2012 and May 3rd in Europe the game has attracted a large of audience of WoW style players and anime addicts.
Classes in The Exiled Realm of Arborea
One of the most important aspects of TERA is the classes system. Choosing a class should be done according to your personal playing style and preferences. There are 8 classes available to play as in TERA. These include:
Archer
Berserker
Lancer
Mystic
Priest
Sorcerer
Slayer
Warrior
Each class has it's own unique attributes and skills. All are designed to play a specific role in combat as well. Some classes perform best as high damage builds while others are crafted more for defensive or healing properties. Below you'll find more detailed information about each class that will help you select one that is best suited for your skills and playing style.
Archer
The Archer is best used as a ranged DPS build and uses light armor. This class uses a bow for weaponry which is charged with energy making it capable of dealing massive damage with fast and furious shots. This class is great to use for soloing, leveling or PvP. The high damage makes it easy to blast through hordes of enemies and take down large foes quickly.
Berserker
The Berserker class is also a high damage dealer. Through the use of strong attacks and powerful blocking and defensive maneuvers this character is capable of wiping the floor with enemies. The Berserker is also equipped with heavy armor making it a class that is easy to survive with, too. Certain skills allow this class to deal 5x normal damage.
Lancer
The Lancer class is designed to play the role of a tank (character that takes a lot of damage). Lancers can deal moderate damage but are capable of absorbing loads of damage thanks to their extreme heavy armoring. This class is best used in a group scenario where the Lancer acts as a shield for other, higher damage dealing characters.
Mystic
The Mystic is another class that works best when used in a party. It can provide healing and other support making it a great ranged provider for group members. They can, however, also summon creatures to fight for them. Soloing with this class relies heavily on avoiding attacks and healing yourself.
Priest
The Priest works much like any Monk class in other MMO games. It is primarily designed to be a support class that provides healing and other assistance to group members but is also capable of magic attacks that deal low to moderate damage. Survivability of this character is high. Recommended mostly for playing in a party with DPS and Tank based players.
Slayer
The Slayer is a fast, powerful class. Primarily focused around dealing great amounts of damage this class is perfect as a close combat DPS build.
Other Classes
There are a few other classes available in TERA but they are pretty similar to those that we've already covered. Point is, there's a lot to choose from. If you're a hack and slash player, go for a high DPS, close quarters combat character. If you like to sit back and avoid taking damage, aim to play as a class that is used for support or summoning. Picking class is pretty simple. Just do whatever feels right for how you personally play.
If you get stuck at any point in the game whether it be leveling or completing quests you can always pick up a TERA guide to help you out. These books generally have loads of invaluable tips for new and seasoned players for leveling, earning gold, finishing quests and even defeating the bosses.
