The changes in Kansas City are amazing. Around 2007, the city underwent a massive renaissance to dramatically alter the downtown area. As a result, the city now attracts more tourists and residents than previously. As a part of the renovation project, nine blocks between the Sprint Center and the Convention Center became the Power & Light District. This dining and entertainment area offers a movie theater, Midland Theater (live performance), a variety of restaurants and bars, and more entertainment venues. Power and Light hotel options are typically on the convention center side of the district.

When you choose to stay at a Power and Light hotel, you are within walking distance of eclectic, casual, and fine dining restaurants. Steakhouses like the 801 Chophouse and the Maker's Mark Bourbon House are fantastic for indulging in perfectly aged beef and delectable seafood. The Power & Light District also has diners like Fran's Restaurant, acclaimed bakeries like MeMa's Bakery, and coffee houses that can wake up your taste buds, such as Latteland Espresso and Tea. If you are looking for nightlife, there are also a wide variety of clubs and bars from which to choose.

With a jazz club feel, The Chesterfield offers live entertainment and drinks in a historically charming atmosphere. The Dubliner provides an authentic Irish pub experience in the heart of Kansas City. Hotel Nightclub is a luxury nightlife spot with amazing service and a vibrant, high energy vibe. Mosaic Lounge provides a glowing, sophisticated nightclub hang out spot. There are so many nightclubs and bars in the Power & Light District that the entire urban area is a beautiful array of colored lights at night. Staying at a Power and Light hotel lets visitors enjoy as much nightlife as they desire because their hotel is so close to the entertainment.

Also in the Power and Light District, there are spa, salon, boutique, and other entertainment opportunities for visitors and residents. There are several nearby hotels from which to choose, so you can find the one that fits your vacation plans. Perhaps the most iconic Power and Light hotel is the Marriott Downtown, which lights up the night with a building-sized computerized light show each evening. No matter what hotel you choose, the Power & Light District is a wonderland of activity, lights, and entertainment for adults on vacation. Planning a trip to the Kansas City should include this new section of downtown.
