The Grand Canyon is one of the most amazing natural wonders in the U.S. It encompasses an immense, 277-mile long canyon which is known throughout the world for its colorful landscapes as well as its sheer size.
Unless you know your way around or you're on a Grand Canyon bus trip, you might have trouble finding the best places to view the beautiful scenery. So, if you're interested in a scenic, cost-effective way to see this magnificent place, you should consider taking a Grand Canyon motor coach ride.
The Grand Canyon was carved from rock millions of years ago by the Colorado River; the process created unique rock formations, spectacular colors, and majestic views that attract tourist from all over the world. Catching the sun set over the canyon is a popular activity as is hiking the South Rim Bright Angel Trail. Some also participate in rafting trips down the Colorado River.
Typically, canyon coach trips head for the West Rim or the South Rim. The South Rim trips take an entire day so those usually start when the sun comes up. Most tour operators offer a convenient pickup and drop-off service for passengers staying at the Las Vegas Strip hotels.
The tour to the South Rim usually includes stopping at the Mather, Yavapai, and Yaki lookout areas. Each area will provide you with a different spectacular view of the canyon. A South Rim motor coach ride will also stop at historic Grand Canyon Village so its passengers can visit the museums, shops, galleries and restaurants located there. Be prepared for a day packed full of fun and sightseeing as your bus will take off from Vegas around 7:30 a.m. and not return until 9:00 p.m.
A West Rim Grand Canyon bus trip begins with a 2 hour drive from Las Vegas. It will take you by the gigantic Hoover Dam and the scenic Lake Mead. Your tour itinerary may also include the chance to see Eagle and Guano Points and the Hualapai Indian Village. The village is worth seeing as it has Native American dwellings and an outdoor amphitheater.
Tour companies offer different packages, and each one delivers a different experience. The most comprehensive package includes a helicopter ride to the floor of the canyon, a boat ride down the Colorado, and an unlimited pass to the amazing Grand Canyon Skywalk. A tour like this will let you experience almost everything the canyon has to offer.
There are other canyon coach trips to choose from too. If you want to pay more, you can arrange a custom trip for your group. Seats on these trips are limited so the experience is much more personal. These trips are usually shorter than the usual bus tour to the South Rim, but you will have the tour guide all to yourself and the amenities are often better as well. Overall, your experience will be even more impressive than the more typical type of bus tour. It is recommended you book your tour a minimum of two weeks in advance so you can get the seats you want for you or your group.
You can look for tour operators on the Internet if you're interested in a Grand Canyon bus tour. You can make your reservations online and even pay for your tour. You'll get to compare and select the best package so you will get the meals and other extras you want. Don't wait until the last minute though, or the tour you want may be already booked full.
