Most homes need to have a quality air conditioning system as the summers continue to get hotter. It is not just enough anymore for you to go out and buy a new air conditioner. If you want your system to be really strong, it needs to have quality air ducts. Do your research to find the right duct system for your home or office before purchasing one.
One thing you should put a lot of thought into is the type of duct work you want as well as the design. With a duct system, size matters. If you are trying to install duct in your house, a 20 inch might be appropriate. The type of duct work you can choose from is duct board, sheet metal ducts and ducts that are flexible.
So, what is a good location for the duct work to be installed at? Well most homes usually install their duct work in the attic or basement. Target these locations so they are nowhere to be found (especially if you have kids). Depending on where you installed the duct work at, consider buying floor and ceiling registers. If you install the duct work in the basement, then the heating will be better. On the other hand, if you install it in the attic, the cooling will be much better. Choose wisely.
Installing the duct in the home is actually an easy task. It’s mainly about lining up the pipe and connecting it together with tape. You probably are wondering why this is so expensive. When installing the duct, make sure to wear a mask over your face because you will be rolling in a lot of dust. The first thing you should do before touching the duct is to install the mounting ring on the furnace. The next thing will be whatever route you've implemented in your plan. For example, if you decided to do the duct work in the basement, you might want it to be going down the middle of the ceiling. When the duct is up, metal straps will be holding it down. After that, it will be time to set up the connecting collars, which goes on each end of the duct work. The rest of the work is self-explanatory. At the end, put some duct tape around both ends of insulation to ensure that it lasts long.
Once the duct is installed, it is important to continue to perform maintenance a couple times a year. Dust and other particles will accumulate and if not cleaned out properly, dirty air will blow through the house, making the whole family feel sick.
