Home renovation accumulates a significant amount of debris. Projects like spring cleaning or gutting a room amount a lot of junk. Here in Denver, it can take weeks, if not months to have your weekly garbage service take away all the debris left over from renovation. Don’t leave a huge pile of broken junk in a corner, get rid of it! Roll-off dumpsters are the premium choice for homeowners looking small to large remodeling projects.
Renting a Roll-Off Dumpster
The most common size customers rent is a 10 cubic yard container. Ten yard containers are small enough to be in a driveway, and are short enough to easily sidelift items like concrete and dirt inside of it. 10 cubic yards is a lot of space. Imagine ten standard stoves pieced together in two rows of five. It gives a good estimate as to how big a 10 yard container is.
If you don’t think that your project debris will fit in a 10 yard container, don’t sweat it! Roll-off dumpsters come in 4 different sizes – 10 yard, 20 yard, 30 yard and 40 yard. Usually homeowners will never need a size bigger than a 20 yard container. If you are on the fence about what size you should go with, choose the bigger one. Renting a bigger roll-off is more cost friendly than renting a smaller dumpster that may need replacement once full.
Important Items to Keep in Mind
Permits -
If you can put it on your driveway, do it. It’s better than dealing with any unwanted tickets or fines for putting it on the street without a permit. However, if you need a dumpster but don’t have room, please be sure to contact the local building permit office to request a permit for the dumpster PRIOR to renting one. City ordinances may prevent you from having a roll-off dumpster on the streets.
Make Room -
Whether the roll-off dumpster is going on the streets or on your driveway, there needs to be room for drop-off and pickup. Nothing is worse than having a truck driver yell at you and wait impatiently as you embarrassingly hurry things out of the way, and this is the best case. If there isn’t room the dumpster, the driver may simply pass on by and some companies will charge you for that. It may take several days after to see that dumpster come back again.
Choose the company that is committed to providing courteous, reliable and on-time service. Choose the one that is punctual with their drop-off and pickup times, and has an affordable rental plan.
