Driver’s license system in Ontario
In Ontario, the legal age to obtain driver’s license is 16 years and if you are a teenager and just turned 16 you are eligible to apply for your driver's license. It must be in the bags of every individual in order to drive legally. The Government have Ontario graduated licensing system in which individual have to go through 3 different types of licenses in order to be fully licensed. Along with this these three different types of licenses have their own amount of pay for the insurance of the car. Therefore, those steps are explained below.
G1 License - Knowledge test
The very first step of the licensing system is to have G1 license which is also known as the Learner’s license. In this you have to give written exam which is computerized based and include 40 MCQ’s half of them include questions related to traffic rules and the remaining one consist of traffic signals along with this the passing marks is 80% to clear your G1 exam. To clear the exam, you can also take help of the G1PT as it provides all the questions which can be appear on your exam. Before exam few formalities are conducted before, for instance, they will ask you for the proof of identity after this you have to go through for your vision examination and after that you are good to go with your written exam. For the first time the total cost for giving G1 is approximately $150.
G2 License - intermediate license
Moving further to the next step that is G2 which will be conducted after 12 months of G1 exam. If you have your G2 license then you can drive vehicle by your own without any assistance of anyone. In this you have to clear the road test as the examiner will be there with you and will give you directions and will ask you to park the vehicle as well. Few things that examiner will ask you, for instance, parallel parking, take right and left turns, stop at the roadside, lane merging. Moreover, if you are not able to clear the exam you can retake the exam anytime till your G1 expires and if you want another attempt the fees for this will be $53.75.
G License – Ontario’s full driver’s License
To get your G license, you have to pass the G road test, which is a $89.25 exam. A G1 license will have cost you $190, and a G2 license will have cost you $90. Add up the fees for the G1, G2, and G licenses, and you'll have to pay $369.25 for a whole G-class Ontario driver's license.
