Thailand's Civil Aviation Authority (CAAT) has implemented clear regulations to protect passengers in cases of flight delays and cancellations. Here's a breakdown of your rights:

✈️ Flight Delay Compensation

Depending on the duration of the delay, passengers are entitled to various forms of assistance:

2–3 hours delayed: Airlines must provide food and drinks and offer the option to request a refund.

3–5 hours delayed: In addition to the above, passengers can choose to reschedule their flight or opt for alternative transportation.

5–6 hours delayed: Passengers receive a cash compensation of 600 baht, unless the delay is due to extraordinary circumstances beyond the airline's control.

Over 6 hours delayed: The airline is required to treat the situation as a flight cancellation, offering a refund or rescheduling options. Additionally, passengers may receive compensation of 1,200 baht and may be provided with accommodation if an overnight stay is necessary.

🛫 Flight Cancellation

If a flight is canceled, passengers have the right to:

Request a refund for their ticket.

Reschedule their flight or be provided with alternative transportation to their destination.

Receive food, drinks, and accommodation if necessary.

For charter flights, rights may vary depending on the notice given for cancellations or delays.

⚠️ Important Notes

These regulations apply to airlines holding an air operating license for domestic scheduled flights in Thailand.

The CAAT is currently working on updating the Ministry of Transport's announcement to ensure more comprehensive protection of passenger rights. Any changes will be communicated by the CAAT in due course.

Passengers are encouraged to be aware of their rights and to demand appropriate care and compensation when necessary.
