Even though it is meant for the same purpose as for the adults, baby clothing has attained different dimensions in the recent years. These days, baby clothing is not only used to cover babies, but it also serves an aesthetic and safety-related purpose.
The best baby clothing is supposed to have very soft texture and should aim at protecting the child’s fragile body. Cotton, polyester, fleece, spandex, and nylon are some of the fibers that are used to make baby clothing.
Ranges of baby clothing starts from infant clothing for babies between 0-1 months called a bodysuit. A bodysuit—also known as a babygrow, sleepsuit, or stretchsuit—is a one-piece, long-sleeved outfit with zippers down the front and the legs. Because most babies dislike having anything pulled over their heads, one should look for garments that are easy to put on and take off.
When purchasing a dress for babies or toddlers to wear on a daily basis, it is good to avoid buying those that require dry cleaning, hand-washing or ironing. It is also good to be aware of tiny buttons, hooks, poppers, pompoms, and bows on baby clothing, as they can be choking hazards. Seams, particularly on inside, should be smooth and lie flat.
There is wide variety of outfits available for babies these days; some of the popular clothing includes two-, three-, or four-piece outfits that can be coordinated with other clothes. Some of the other baby clothing and accessories include baby coats, baby jumpers, baby sleepsuits, baby socks, booties and pre-walking shoes, baby nappies, etc. Together with baby clothing, one also needs to buy accessories like baby changing mats, nappies, baby wipes, and a baby rucksack carrier.
Modern-day baby clothing is no longer a bare piece of cloth to protect the child, but is slowly becoming a fashion statement, and the child is pampered with not only homemade baby clothes but also branded specialty clothing.
