Taking adequate care of your carpet is the most important aspect of prolonging its life and maintaining its appearance. This article will teach you how to give your carpet a proper care.
Every carpet needs professional care at one time or the other. Cleaning is determined by the amount of feet trod on your carpet each day. A professional carpet cleaning will help to make your carpet look cleaner, last longer and be environmentally safe.
You do have your own part to play when it comes to the carpet’s maintenance. You must always vacuum your carpet, but make sure you vacuum before putting on any spot remover on the carpet. When you vacuum it extracts the exterior dirt and primes the carpet for cleaning. Be careful how you use any carpet cleaners because carpet cleaners are dependent upon the type of carpet that you have. Some carpet cleaners may be too hazardous or may remove the color from the carpet if not used professionally. Look at the warning on the carpet cleaning solution bottle before you use it yourself. Reading the label will ensure that you don’t use it unwisely.
There are some carpets that are harder to clean yourself. One such carpet is Berber carpet, which is made of leftover strands of carpet during the carpet refining process. Carpet cleaners that consist of peroxide or oxygen are considered to be more effective in proper carpet cleaning. When cleaning Berber carpets, you may have to use hot water extraction method.
Carpets that have a shag texture are easily cleaned with the hot water extraction method. By mixing a solution of hot water and a small amount of detergent, professional carpet cleaner will remove any dirt, dust or grime accumulated in there. The particles are loosened and the moisture and dirt are extracted from the carpet to ensure proper cleaning by truck mounted cleaning units.
Environmentally green clean carpet cleaning products are recommended by most carpet cleaning professionals. These are naturally safe products that do not contain any chemicals.
You can also do your own carpet cleaning if you experience spills by using a basic solution of vinegar and water, but test a concealed part of the carpet first before you actually apply it on your floor covering. Use a sponge and warm water with a little detergent after using this basic homemade solution. Wait until the next morning to vacuum the carpet and you should see spill or stain gone.
Never use bleach on your carpet to remove any carpet stains. This will discolor the rug and damage it. Immediately attend to any spills on the carpet by blotting it with a white paper towel or cloth. Never rub the spill because that will only make it spread.
You can also use club soda to remove wine stains. Ice cubes can be used to take care of wax from candles or gum. Greasy stains can be removed from your carpet using baking soda, cornstarch or corn meal after sprinkling it on the carpet overnight.
Taking proper care of your carpet, no matter what style of carpet you have will expand its lifespan and make it look great. Using a professional carpet cleaning is recommended after all to get better cleaning results.
