Most of us lie in wait while we see what would happen after two of the Ford Motor Company’s top executives shared their thoughts and criticisms of the current Ford Taurus sedan. Business Week was quick to mention that one of the company’s honchos has decided to compare the unit to the famous cartoon character Homer Simpson.

For whatever reason, a couple of automotive and marketing experts are shaking their hands at this little gimmick that the two heads have done. After all, with the very own heads giving out criticisms to their very own product, the whole deal would be reflected as a negative to consumers who are aware of what has happened. On the other hand, it could yet be a marketing gimmick so as to bring in and attract the interest of other car consumers.

It was the company’s CEO Alan Mulally who shared his thoughts about the Ford Taurus at the Detroit convention which happened just this month. Also, it was Derrick Kuzak, the company’s global product development team, who compared the vehicle to the Bart Simpson’s famous father. Mulally did make a U-turn though when he hinted that they would soon be sending out a new and better looking Ford Taurus in a few years’ time. He revealed, "The new Taurus that you're going to see in the next year or so is the one we should have made originally. It is just fabulous."

As per Kuzak’s comparison of the Ford Taurus with Homer Simpson, this is what he said: "As you walk from a Homer Simpson design to a Superman design, it's all about millimeters matter." He continued to compare the vehicle with the character by pointing at the different proportions you would find in the bumpers, window glass, and body sides. He also continued, "That's only delivered when the engineering team does not dumb down the design because of engineering and manufacturing feasibility concerns." Good thing they had not decided to belittle the Ford F250 and its Ford F250 parts.

So is it a way to catch the attention of the public for them to go looking at what the newer and better Ford Taurus would be like?
