At present, Germany auto maker BMW is already laying out their plans as per the possible launch of a new range of vehicles which would be marketed under its Mini brand. This new range of vehicles would come as premium compact units and they would be sent to the Indian car market by next year at the very least.
To check out how they might be doing in the Indian car market, BMW has already made sure that they study the trends in that market. They went ahead to have a feasibility study. The results have been kept undisclosed however there are rumors that the company might be sharing the results to the public in the next two or three months with regards to their plans with the new Mini range.
"We are positively reviewing it and it is only a question of when do we bring it to the Indian market," shared David Panton, the company’s senior vice president for the Asia Pacific (with the exception of China), Eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. The company also did continue to disclose that importing Mini vehicles to India would mean having to shell out Rs 20 to 25 lakh as the tag price of the vehicle. On the other hand, BMW is still considering whether they would be able to sell premium hatchback units with a tag price of that amount.
If the plans do push through, it is highly possible that the company could have their own facility in the country. That way, the expenses would be far less than if they still would have to manufacture the vehicles in their home base and ship the units to the Asian country to sell. Officials from the maker of BMW wheels stated, "While dealers for the BMW and Mini dealers could be common, the showrooms would be different."
As per the previous statement, it does look like BMW might already be on the move so as to create a new kind of display studio in India. This has also been one of the rumors circling the automotive community. The Hindu Business Line did report though that the display studio might be coming with a lounge bar so as to allow consumers to have a first hand experience rubbing elbows with the Mini products on display.
