Use of too much water can have a negative impact on the finishing, more so if it's not wiped up fast. Use of mild soap such as Ivory and Murphy's Oil Soap is recommended in cleaning wooden kitchen cabinets. Both of these soaps are quite gentle in nature so it will not be harmful for wood. Another good thing about these soaps is that no oil or lye is left in the finished product.
