You would see these kinds of doors in the futuristic movies once upon a time, and today you can own them! The unique design of doors was first introduced in the concept car, Alfa Romeo Carabo. This car and the door were designed by Marcello Gandini. Basically, Lambo doors, also known as scissor doors are basically doors that rotate vertically at a hinge that is fixed at the end of the windshield. Scissor doors, also known as Lambo doors were actually made possible due to the wide chassis of the Lamborghini Countach. When the Lambo doors were first seen, they were thought to be unconventional, unusual and even weird. However, Lambo doors today are a fashion statement of the highest order.
Lambo doors are basically used in the higher end and exotic cars. They were first used in many Lamborghini models, but went on to be used by many other higher end cars as the years progressed. There are several types of Lambo doors. Here is a short description of each of them:
Conventional Door Hybrid:
Some lambo doors are designed in such a way that they open like conventional doors as well as like scissor doors. They are designed so that the user can take benefit of the conventional doors as well as the scissor doors.
VLS:
These doors are slightly different than the normal scissor doors, in the sense that they are designed to open slightly outwards and then open in the manner of a scissor door. This allows the top edge of the door to clear the door frame. It also allows the top edge to clear the A-pillar of the car.
130 Degrees
Some lambo doors rotate till a hundred and thirty degrees, a bit more than the normal ninety degrees. These doors have some advantages over the normal lambo doors which open till ninety degrees. For one, they do not obstruct the passenger while entering or exiting the car.
Though Lambo doors are seen more of a conventional fashion as compared to the normal doors, they have quite a few advantages over the conventional doors. A car with lambo doors can be parked in a smaller area as compared to a car with normal doors, because the area needed for a lambo door car with open doors is equal to a lambo door car with closed doors.
There are several lambo doors manufacturers today. You even install lambo doors on almost any type of car. Lambo doors are usually car owners who wish to have the sports car look on their cars. Almost anyone and everyone would like to have the stylish and distinct movement and appearance of a lambo door. Lambo doors can be considered to be one of the best customizations a car owner may carry out on their car.
There is an increase in the demand of lambo doors, and with demand rises supply. There quite a few ways in which you can get lambo doors installed on your car. However, before opting for lambo doors, you will have to ensure that the design and make of the lambo doors is compatible with your car design. You should also ensure that the company carrying the customization is reliable and a provider of good quality.
