Majority of the people who are fond of wearing personalized sterling jewelry also own several more chains made of sterling silver, and these are usually worn in rotation regularly. Sterling silver chains are relatively affordable than chains made of other precious metals. They are also very attractive. Personalized sterling silver jewelry is one of the most versatile accessories; they can become chokers, necklaces, bracelets, and anklets.
The types of personalized sterling jewelry are classified according to how they were made. The most basic one made of links to form a whole chain. This type is referred to as a Cable. Jewelers have made different variations of this basic design. One of them is the curb, which is basically just a flattened cable. The Figaro style is also flat but with three short links followed by a long, stretched-out link. Some jewelry designers like Mariner, Gucci, and Anchor have put a bar on the middle of the link. Rolos are similar to cables. They also have wide, circular links fitted closely.
Other personalized sterling silver chains can be very complex in design. They can also start out as links, but they are then built into intricate patterns. Among the more sterling silver chains that are complicated in structure are the Rope and Byzantine.
Chainmaille also possesses as a complex design. These are constructed with ring-shaped links, and can either be flat or round.
During the medieval times in Europe, chainmaille patterns are made of flat, wide strips and can be weaved to make an armor worn by knights. The weaving technique is still used nowadays for jewelry.
Chainmaille with round links is very popular today as jewelry. Some examples of the forms that chainmaille can take are Jens Pind, double rope, foxtail, Byzantine chain, and Queens chain. These are mostly made by hand because machines cannot approximate hand movements needed to assemble this design successfully.
Italy provides most of commercial silver chains available on the market today. Made by machines, they come in different styles and are of good quality. These silver chains look almost white when brand new because part of their assembly is plating them with .999 fine silver.
In America, Rhode Island can also provide jewelry with excellent quality. Unlike in Italy, Rhode Island jewelers produce these in smaller quantities and these are sold in department stores and jewelry stores carrying top-quality jewelry. Much of the chains are sold to manufacturing jewelers in bulk lengths. These will then be used to design a variety of things, like ID holders, key rings, bookmarks, and eyeglass holders.
Modern technology has enabled personalized sterling jewelry to be more popular and affordable today. With its flexibility and its ability to adapt to almost any design you want, it can make you look stylish, fashionable, and chic.
