Maruti has launched its new car model ‘A Star’ on the 19th November in India. The car combines eye-catching style and easy mobility with high fuel efficiency. It is compact and downsized by providing ample interior roominess and comfort. The Maruti A- Star car has a hatchback model that is designed keeping the demands of global markets in mind.

Maruti A-Star is the fifth global strategic model from Maruti Suzuki. Maruti A Star will be manufactured simultaneously in various other countries under the name of Alto and Celerio in Europe and other countries. The Maruti A- Star will come at a price of Rs 3.85 lakh and will be available in three different variants – Lxi, Vxi, and Zxi. The Maruti A-Star has a 3-cylinder, 12 valve MPFI unit that generates 67 PS of peak power at 6200rpm and 90Nm of torque at 3500rpm.

A-Star car dimensions are strikingly similar to its rival Hyundai i10. Interestingly, both the cars will compete in the same segment with fuel efficient engines. Just the first glace on the car design will remind the buyers’ of the Hyundai’s i10. If on one hand, Hyundai i10 prominent features, including the low slung grille, the prominent strip that houses the number plate and the flame shaped headlamps that extends from bonnet to the bumper, has become familiar to the buyers; on the other hand; a vertical A-pillar, a bulged out appearance and inverted C-pillar are the trademark of the A-star.

The A-star is roomier and its large glass house at the rear allows more light to come in.

It has new K- series engines for its gasoline driven cars which ensures low friction and plentiful flat torque delivery at low and mid-range speeds which ensures good drivability.

The car’s 2360 mm wheelbase is similar to the Maruti Alto.

Since, the model of Maruti A-Star was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year, it made its presence felt with its impressive styling. It reflects the technological prowess of the designers and invites the envying attention from the customers.

The high selling point of the Maruti A-Star - its K-engine is placed- under the hood of Maruti. This new 1.0L, 3 cylinder unit develops a maximum power output of 48kW (65hp) powers the A-star. This 1.0L enables the car to run longer distance in just 1 liter. The car’s engine has a five speed transmission. This four-cylinder 16-valve K-engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 63kW (86hp). The power of the A-star will empower the upcoming models, splash and the swift.
