Medical lab coats come in various styles and sizes such as waist length or knee length and also come in a variety of colors.
There is a smaller medical lab coat for men called a consultant lab coat. Doctors wear this consultant lab coat when they are back in their office, after they have done an examination of the patient, when they are giving a consultation to the patient. It is more of a formal jacket and shorter than a regular medical lab coat that he would wear when examining patients. A doctor might wear a consultant lab coat while making his rounds in the hospital. They come with three outside pockets and three inside pockets to allow the doctor to carry small books, telephone, pager, prescription pad and pens and anything else he might need while consulting with the patient.
For women, there is the jewel neck medical lab coat that offers a generous 32 inches long with a snap front poplin material. It has knitted cuffs at the end of the sleeves, one hidden pocket, a cell phone pocket, two front pockets and one chest pocket and it has front and back darts to make it slimming. This is the medical lab coat all the nurses want.
Medical lab coats do not have to come in a traditional boring white unless it is mandated by your hospital or clinic. Many medical lab coats now come in colors such as bright purple, pink, orange, green and blues. Even the men's medical lab coats have various colors such as dark greens, various shades of blue, tan and khaki just to name a few.
During the summer months or if you are just warm in nature, you might want to try the three quarter length sleeve medical lab coat. The length is only 30 inches long so you will stay cool during the summer months or in a hospital that runs its temperature too high. The sleeves also give you room to work up close with the patients without your sleeves rubbing against them and perhaps irritating an open wound you are working on.
For a more polished look, women might want to try this medical lab coat with floral Jacquard satin trimmed collar and a center back belt for slimming, with a hidden inseam pocket. It also has Princess seems on the front and back.
Many of the medical lab coats come in sizes of 40 inches to 50 inches in length but many places will custom order for the taller nurse or doctor, in addition to having plus sizes available and maternity medical lab coats.
Colors and characters are all the rage for medical lab coats, especially in children's wards, dental offices and pediatric doctor's offices. Many patients feel more comfortable and relaxed when their nurse or doctor is dressed in a light color medical lab coat or one that has fun and lively characters dancing across them. The patients will be more receptive to such procedures as shots, IVs and other such uncomfortable yet necessary measures one experiences when in the hospital or about to undergo a minor surgery.
