A piece of jewelry such as wedding bands can become an instant heirloom. That’s why it is important that you choose your jewelry well. Whether you are looking for platinum rings or tungsten carbide rings, you need to know what you are looking for in order to determine the wedding bands quality.
With the recent popularity of ecommerce, consumers are now faced with more options, and with it, came tougher choices. How do you choose a diamond wedding band? How do you determine that it is of good quality? While it is true that you should at least have a certain level of trust in the jeweler and the store itself, it wouldn’t hurt if you knew how to appraise a diamond at the very least.
When you are buying a diamond wedding band, look for the 4Cs – cut, color, clarity and carat weight. Remember that no two diamonds are alike and these 4Cs will determine its value. "Diamonds are forever", the famous saying goes, and the reason for this is that, you will never find the same kind twice.
According to expert manufacturers of diamond wedding band, a diamond’s cut is by far, the most important factor. It is with a skillful cut that the beauty of a diamond is unleashed. When it comes to diamonds, cut does not refer to shape such as oval, marquise or princess.
The grading of a diamond's color begins with D. The more color the diamond has, the farther in the alphabet it goes. In essence, a poorer grading means that the diamond is less desirable, but that doesn’t mean that it is worthless. Clarity, on the other hand refers to the presence or lack of imperfections. These impurities are called inclusions and are graded on a scale from flawless to imperfect. The carat weight refers to the size of the diamond. The larger the diamond, the rarer it is, and the higher its carat value as well.
Now say your diamond is set in gold, how do you know its worth? Well, look for the karat mark in the wedding band – it will tell you how much of the gold it has. When it comes to white gold, the whiter it is, the higher the grade.
