Now, there is a novice way to have your window etched. Many owners loved to have etched glass windows or doors. Why shouldn’t you as etched glass looked elegant and blend nicely with the designs. Etching of your window glass can be done by professional, by yourself or by applying one layer of vinyl film over it to make it looked etched.
If you wish to etch glass by yourself, it is not necessarily difficult. All you need is a pattern to start with, and it is good to choose simple patterns without too much details. Clip art and colouring books are great resources you can look into.
The surface of the glass should be thoroughly clean. Trace the pattern by using a carbon paper and the contact paper. When you are done with the pattern, cut them out using a utility knife. Use a foam brush or a paper towel to apply etching cream.
Always wear a pair of latex gloves when working with etching cream. Wearing long sleeves is also recommended. Place the pattern on the glass. You may want to use secure the contact paper with some adhesive. Then, apply thick layer of etching cream.
Be very generous with the etching cream. Leave them for 15 minutes. When the etching process has been completed, remove the etching cream by running water. Remove the contact paper to reveal your beautiful etched glass.
With etched glass film, you can create similar etched glass effect without all the troublesome mess. Etched glass film nowadays come as adhesive-free and in no time you will turn your ordinary looking glass into etched glass look that appears to cost hundreds of dollars.
The glass film can be easily peeled off too if you do not like the effect. This is not possible with the traditional etching process.
There are many etched glass designs and patterns to choose from. Decorating your house with etched glass film are not only affordable, there are a lot of satisfaction too. As etched glass film can withstand moisture and steam, you can also install them in bathroom.
