Car rental means the world to me. In times of need, car hire in Cape Town has pulled me through many rough spots that would have ended in disaster otherwise. The ease and simplicity of renting a car at a reputable dealership is tantamount to instant bliss. Find the website of your choice, choose the car you desire, enter your credit card details and, lo and behold, you become the proud owner of a car (albeit temporarily). As I mentioned earlier, car rental in Cape Town (my hometown has) pulled my backside out the fire many times.

I remember the first time I had to rent a car. I had planned a surreptitious road trip away from my parents, as they were on holiday at the time. The car was sadly locked up behind the garage door; their trust in me was clearly not well-developed. I had foolishly promised my friends the trip of a lifetime, a respite from the constant studying that plagued us during our formative years. So, to avoid the slander and ridicule of my friends, I used my very first credit card to secure a car rental the old-fashioned way. It was with great confidence that I walked into my local car rental store with a gleam in my eye and a sparkle in my smile.

The process is exceedingly simple. One credit card equals one car, or two cars if you so desire. I searched the showroom floor for a model that would suit my budgetary requirements. Also, there would be up to six of us in the vehicle at any given time, so I needed a car hire with ample space. The car I chose was a modest station wagon, with enough space to accommodate seven strapping young lads (with one of us uncomfortably squeezed into the back section).

I approached the desk of the friendly rental clerk to enquire about my car hire for Cape Town. She greeted me with a honeyed smile, laden with promise and the eager desire to please. ‘Sir, how can I be of assistance today?’ were the words she uttered. And help she would. I pointed out the car of my choice. ‘Very good, now we will require a valid driver’s licence and credit card.’ I whipped out both, placing them softly in the palm of her hand. After a barrage of questions (age, destination, insurance, petrol requirements etc), her computer printed out a receipt and I was led to my car. The price was exceedingly reasonable, even for a holiday rental and I quickly seated myself behind the wheel of my recently acquired car rental.

Car rental in Cape Town needn’t be a chore. The process can be a nightmare, as some of my friends and family have attested to, but I did not experience it that way. In all probability it may have had something to do with my parents’ platinum credit card and its unlimited overdraft features. I drove the station wagon home slowly, testing its speed and ability to take tight corners. I rolled into my driveway safely and parked the car inside the garage, waiting for nightfall when my friends would come over for a drink to celebrate our most auspicious journey. Car rental was the perfect solution to my obstacle, and so shall it be for you one day.
