The 2009 Asure ID software packages became available in November of last year. HID Global (manufacturer of the Fargo brand) has developed four different versions. They share a common format based on the Microsoft.NET platform. Each one is designed to use familiar selection and control features so retraining on the new product won't take long. Higher speed and more organized enrollment are the goals of this redesign. These programs allow the end user to configure the data storage and entry processes for maximum efficiency. Each ID card can be viewed before printing to check for accuracy and aesthetic layout. All versions are compatible with Access. An optional support and protection plan is available for an additional fee.
Solo
This is basic card creation software for entry-level users. It can communicate with TWAIN compliant digital cameras for direct photo downloading. Other images such as logos and WordArt can also be imported to customize card designs. As many as eight data fields may be set up and the software can handle both single and dual sided CR-80 card printing. Bar codes and magnetic stripe encoding capabilities come standard with this package.
Express
In addition to the features listed for the Solo, this software allows multiple users to be set up on the system. Each log-on is password protected and users can be given access to specific functions based on clearance level. The number of data fields is not limited (and compound fields can also be used). Templates may be configured for a variety of card sizes and digital signatures can be added for extra security. Basic reporting features come standard along with sheet and batch printing ability.
Enterprise
This version can be networked to allow database access from multiple locations. Real time data exchange comes standard on this system via Live Link technology. It allows immediate updating and bi-directional communication between the software and a third party database. High capacity record saving and searching makes this solution appropriate for companies that handle a large employee or client base. Two dimensional bar code applications can be created using this package. Asure ID Enterprise is compatible with MS SQL 2000, 2005, and 2008.
Exchange
The iDIRECTOR smart card software from HID Global was first rolled out in 2007. It is the program of choice for highly secure environments. This program has many different available modules including RFID access, financial transaction (Electronic Purse), and biometric data storage. Selecting the right program for each card is as simple as clicking a drop down box. The Exchange package with iDIRECTOR is compatible with Access, SQL, LDAP, and Oracle. All Fargo printers except the Persona and CR100 can encode smart cards if the correct module is selected. Direct-to-card printers include the DTC400 (single or dual sided) and the DTC550. The HDP5000 and HDP600 also offer reverse transfer printing for superior image quality and durability.
Asure ID software is frequently advertised as compatible with all printers that use Windows. However, it is best to check with your ID customer service rep before making this type of non-refundable purchase.
