We began looking at a passel of Samsung home theater products with favorable results. The proverbial "fly in the ointment" notwithstanding, several of the products receive commendation and for good reason.

The products we are specifically referring to are the SamsungLN40A550 LCD, SamsungLN52A650, SamsungLN32A450 and the SamsungLN46A650. Also, we should mention the Haier HLT71 7-INCH Portable LCD TV. Depending on individual requirements all of the above mentioned give plenty of bang for the buck.

The SamsungLN40 came in first, all things being considered. By that we mean screen size, sound, response time, connectivity and so on. However, we're are picking at straws here.The definition is phenomenal on all of these. Even the 32-inch has very good color fidelity and contrast and holds fast motion extremely well. This is a big something when considering the criteria for LCDs.

The LN40 took first prize in large part because it was a top seller. We had to take customer satisfaction into account, of course, and factor in sales as well. Let's face it, though, we're picking at straws a bit.

The Samsung series6 and series7 (A650 and A750, respectively) have 4ms response time and Samsung has added their Touch of Color aspect to the series models. The 46-inch, 52-inch come fully loaded with all the acoutrement to make your home theater experience remarkable. You probably won't ever want to leave the comfort of your home, since you can connect to all of the other technology you possess. You are going to have to force yourself to get up and take in some exercise if you want to live long enough to enjoy all of the features.

Seriously speaking, What we found truly compelling was both the audio surround sound, even with two speakers in the case of the 32-inch,and the lack of screen glare even in daytime with the window shudders open. Also, the connectivity is a huge plus.

When last we checked there was a negligible price difference between the 650 and the 750. The 650 has a swivel base and the 750 remains fixed, so that might make a difference. These are minor realities and your choice should of course depend in part on the dimensions of your space.

One thing we would like to mention, although people might think it should go without saying, be honest with yourself regarding space. There's no point in having a screen that completely outsizes the space to view it in. Many people make this mistake; they purchase a big screen LCD in advance of purchasing the house they anticipate they'll one day possess. We feel that this sort of defeats the purpose. We are not trying to meddle in your affairs, mind you, we are simply offering a suggestion based on experience.

One last thing, the Haier is a handy little device, especially for the price, and the portability

factor grants independence to escape your reality and the confines of your particular situation. that does go without saying, but we said it anyway. There's no denying it is a good quality item, though and gets excellent reception, though you might have to change location every so often.
