Do you know a woman who is about to retire? Someone who has touched your life somehow? She could be your teacher, a good colleague, a relative or even your mother. Have you ever wondered of how to show them that their life long efforts will always be remembered?
Enough of the shawls or scarves, or even of the chocolates and flowers. Just think how many times she must have received these gifts in a year. Her retirement day is surely not the same as any other occasions gone by. It is a once in a lifetime event, and because of that, it deserves a special and unique gift.
And what could be more special and unique than a set of pearl jewelries? No, your gift doesn’t have to be very expensive. Unlike before, only the richest of people could afford them, but not anymore.
Yet, despite the fact that there are already pearls that almost anyone could afford, pearls still manage to give any woman wearing them a regal air and a classy look. Pearls can easily match any outfit a woman might wear – be it a business suit, a party dress or even just a casual blouse. Now, what could be more perfect gift than a pearl for a woman who is about to go on retirement?
For centuries, pearls have been considered magical. Early Chinese civilizations believed that pearls fall whenever dragons fight above the clouds. The Romans on the other hand, believed that receiving a gift of pearls is an omen from the goddess Isis. The Greeks even think of pearls as the hardened tears of the Love Goddess. These ancient civilizations, together with several others, consider pearls to continually bring magic to the bearers.
However, even if modern people do not believe in such magical reasons, how each pearl is created is still worth knowing, and even very symbolic. A pearl is a naturally gem created by oysters, but although all oysters could produce a pearl, not every one of them have managed to create one.
A pearl could only be produced when an irritant or a foreign object gets inside the oyster shell. Hoping to get rid of this irritant, the oyster covers it with nacre, and over the years, what used to be an unwanted object becomes a valuable and beautiful pearl.
Since it takes a while to create these pearls, mankind decided to lend nature a helping hand. Now, with pearl farms in places such as China, pearl production has dramatically increased. Almost anyone could now afford a pearl jewelry. In addition, pearls have become appropriate gifts during special occasions such as on a woman’s retirement day.
Pearls are truly magnificent gifts that you should consider. Unlike other gifts, they could last forever, and the recipient would be able to treasure them for as long as they can. You don’t want to give a gift which will just dry like the flowers or which will just be consumed in an hour like the chocolates, right?
Pearls speak of the importance the woman going on retirement has over your life. Every time they see or wear your gift, they’ll be able to remember the love for which it was given. And since pearls go well on any clothing and last for decades, they’ll be constantly reminded of you.
Shopping for pearls is not as difficult as you might think. You just have to go to a trusted jewelry store and ask for one. Of course, you would need to have an idea of what kind of pearl jewelry you are looking for, as pearls come in different styles, sizes and color.
The most coveted of all pearls is the round one. However, less expensive pearls, but are also equally beautiful are those which have irregular shapes. Another thing you need to consider when buying a piece of pearl is its luster. You could actually see your reflection in pearls with better luster. Of course, you would have to check if the pearls do not have too many bumps or blemishes on its surface.
So when retirement day is coming, don’t stress yourself thinking what could be the perfect gift for that special woman in your life. Just drop by in some jewelry shops, and you’ll surely find the perfect gift you need. One that has been magically believed to bear truth, beauty and love.
